A new report today from TechNews Taiwan (via GforGames) claims that Apple's next generation iPhone will feature 2GB of faster RAM. Apple will reportedly introduce 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM to its iPhone line-up this year, which brings a significant performance increase while maintaining the same power consumption of LPDDR3.
Apple has reportedly decided to equip the upcoming iPhone 6s with 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM. The benefits provided by LPDDR4 over the previous generation, in case you’re wondering, include double the bandwidth (34 GB/s as opposed to 17 GB/s), while maintaining the same power consumption as LPDDR3.
The iPhone 5 featured 1GB of LPDDR2 RAM, while the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus pack 1GB of LPDDR3 RAM.
Additionally, Apple's next-generation iPhone will also feature 'Force Touch' technology as found on the Apple Watch. With Force Touch, the iPhone could distinguish between a light tap and a deep press -- adding a new dimension to the user interface.
The iPhone 6s is rumored to feature the same design as the current iPhone 6, but with improved internals such as processor, a dual-lens camera, and more.
